OLD NAVY
This Saturday is also the OLD NAVY $1 Flip Flop Sale! This is a great opportunity to buy flip flops in every color and gear up for summer. For $1 you will not be sad if you forget a pair behind. I admit they are not the super best flip flops out there but I do have about 10 pairs and I wear them a lot. They get the job of the flip flop done! I will be definitely getting my flip flops this weekend and I am sure I will have some updates for you in a few weeks if all goes as planned. :) According to some sources the stores will open at 7am and will limit 5 pairs per person.
Contact your local Old Navy to see what time their store will be opening for this promotion (and go early because they sell FAST)
OH and do not forget as always to check oldnavyweekly.com to try and score some money saving coupons!

DIVE N SURF Annual Yard Sale!
DIVE N SURF
Dive N Surf is a great local South Bay business that is known around the world, mostly in the Surf community. In 1953 the Meistrell twins invested into the local sports shop with a couple of friends. Business grew and grew and in 1957 the Meistrells bought out their partners and became the sole owners of Dive N Surf. 1990 marked another landmark year for the Meistrell brothers when they were "inducted into the Diving Hall of Fame and the Pioneers of Surfing." Dive N Surf is still going strong today, even after the passing of brother Bill Meistrell, the company continues to be as popular as ever. Dive N Surf is a household name to many South Bay residents. I love that you can get Dive Certified through Dive N Surf. That is certainly on my to do list!
34th ANNUAL YARD SALE
This is the last week for the Dive N Surf Annual Yard Sale, it will end on February 28th. You can score some great deals on dive/surf gear, clothing, gadgets and other goodies. If you buy some specific items you may even score some life tickets to Mt. Baldy!
WHERE AND WHEN
Dive N Surf

EVERYDAY 10am-8pm NOW- February 28, 2010
Here is a video shot in Redondo Beach by Holly Beck a local South Bay surfer and diver, Holly is what I would consider the Poster Child for Dive N Surf. She truly encompasses the passion for the sports that Dive N Surf lives for. Holly is quite inspirational and such a great girl. Look for her videos next time you are on Holly Beck's youtube and become a fan on Holly Beck's Facebook Fan Page. She has some wonderful stories, videos and photos to share.

GIllette Fusion Razor $1
Last night I was browsing Walmart for some bargains as I am out in Utah, where Walmart is a popular place to go. I was not super impressed with their prices but I did find one great deal, especially for any Denver Broncos lovers.
Look in the shaving area OR in your clearance section. The Gillette Fusion Razor that is a special BRONCOS edition is on clearance for $5.00. Match that up with the $4 off any Gillette Fusion Razor coupon from the 2/7 PG and you will have a new razor and a couple of blades for $1. These are usually priced between $7-$10 on average. You could even buy 5 razors if you have the coupons and it would be about $10 less than buying refill blades.
I can not find a photo anywhere but this is a great deal. :)

Fringe by the sea in Redondo Beach
So I admit I am somewhat partial to the beauty of FRINGE, I have to be, my mom owns the place! My mother Debbie and our friend Laura opened FRINGE in the Redondo Beach Riviera Village in the summer of 2009. Prior to our new lovely beach location, we were on a corner in the quaint South bay town of Lomita. We absolutely love our new location and what Debbie and Laura have created in their space is becoming the talk of the town. This week the LA Times did an online article in their HOME BLOG about Fringe, California Meets Provence at Fringe, and we are very thankful that they found us and loved us.

Farmers Markets in the South Bay
Fruit Market, Radom, Poland 2007
I do not know about you, but I find something therapeutic and lovely about shopping at Farmers Markets. Whenever I travel to other countries, one of my favorite things to do is to shop at local street markets in search of the freshest foods or the bizarre. For about a year I also volunteered through the Grain Project to create and run a FM in Santa Ana. When I am home I equally love the Farmers Markets to get my fresh and often organic produce. Lately I find myself rarely making it to the market anymore because I seem to miss when it is going on. Well, rather then beat myself up for missing the Torrance Farmers Market I decided I should see when and where other local Farmers Markets take place. Now I can shop at a Farmers Market almost everyday of the week! (I am going to organize them by days of the week)

My Beloved TOMS Shoes
Two years ago I bought my first pair of TOMS shoes. The plain white canvas shoes I bought had great intentions. I gave them to my brother in October and said "this year, all I want for Christmas is for you to decorate my shoes." This seemed like an easy task, he is artistic and enjoyed making small pictures and bubbly letters all over his sketch pad and canvases. Apparently the task was not that easy. After begging, pleading, and offering to allow my shoes to be my gift for so many different occasions, two years later I got my shoes!
So yes, I cried in excitement and happiness and joy this Christmas as I unwrapped my shoes. I had seen the work he had been doing over the years because I was so anxious and recently gave him a couple ideas as to something he could add to them. There they were, with so many things that relate to me and he added my favorite quote from Gandhi "Be the change you with to see in the world." Last year for Christmas my brother and my friend both gave me a pair of TOMS for Christmas with the Gandhi quote, my girlfriend exchanged mine for a necklace with the same quote that I loved just as much. I wore those shoes till their dying days as my toes popped through as I galavanted around Botswana this summer. I wish there was video footage or a photo of my face when I opened my shoes, certainly more emotional than I have ever been over a gift. Thank you Chris!
So enough about my personal shoes. The reason I love TOMS sooo much is because, not only were they created by an awesome traveler, but Blake made it so that every pair of TOMS purchased another pair is donated to a child around the globe. TOMS goes out and does shoe drops with thousands of pairs of shoes in places like South Africa, Argentina and more. The shoes have developed over the years, when I first bought them they were mostly just for women with a few designs. Now TOMS has many designs, patterns, shapes, sizes, vegan, boots, sparkles and still the same white canvas like I bought. People have TOMS parties where the buy all the shoes and everyone comes over and makes their own special pair and just remember at the same time children in another country will be soon surprised with their only pair of shoes. (If you have not yet linked on a hyperlink above, what are you waiting for!? hehehee)
Some photos of my TOMS
- My Gandhi TOMS, with a photo that TOMS had put in their TOMS blog of my feet in my favorite shoes hanging out at the Self Realization Fellowship in Pacific Palisades, California. This is a place where some of Gandhi's ashes remain.
And NOW for my new TOMS :)

I know you want your own pair of TOMS and they are available all over the internet. Once again I recommend going through Shop at Home and then link to TOMS SHOES. Shop at Home will give you 9% CASH BACK and you will be giving a pair to a child. If you want to try them on in person, there are many local South Bay retailers.

Shopping Online with Gift Cards and How to Benefit More from it!
Over the past couple of months I have been paying attention to ways I can benefit by participating in online promotions. One site that I participate it is e-rewards, which is a quick consumer survey site. I put in a few minutes each week when they ask me to answer some questions, no big deal. A few weeks ago I cashed in my rewards for $15 Borders Bucks. That is a FREE BOOK or more! I was given a couple small Borders Gift Cards for Christmas so together this makes for an even greater deal.
Today, I decided to redeem my Borders bucks and my gift card so I went through Shop At Home. After ordering 3 books, all about travel since I am overdue on an escape, my $45 bill came to nothing. Not only am I not paying anything out of pocket, they will all be shipped for free because it is over $25. The extra bonus is because I used Shop At Home I will get back 7% of my order. Basically I am going to make near $4 and I did not even spend a penny out of pocket.

That means I used $30 in gifts and I profited from my online awareness about $19. Awesome!!! So for any of you that have gift cards to spend, I certainly not only recommend trying to do some online shopping with Shop At Home but also be aware of the deals out there. Before I buy anything online I always go to google and enter a search for a coupon code... example "Borders, coupon, promo code" and I look through the results. Then go click on Shop At Home and enter the company you want to shop with and start getting money back on the purchases.
It does not hurt to be a smart consumer, sure it may take a couple extra minutes, but when your friends are wondering how you can afford to go to dinner or buy those new shoes... it is not because you make a lot of $, rather it is because you pay attention to how you buy!
*there, my secrets are out* Happy Shopping with all those Holiday Gift Cards!

Great random find today, as we found that the Blockbuster in Hermosa Beach (map) is closing and everything must go. Movies were up to 80% off!!! We bought 15 previously viewed movies today. So if you like adding to your movie collection then go check it out. You can get Surf's Up for $3.99! :)

Internet Shopping
This is the first year that I have taken a liking to internet shopping. I felt so busy in general, but on top of that I kept finding such great deals online for items that I truly felt were good for those I had to buy for. I learned about shopping through Shop At Home and how by doing so I could earn cash back. Not only does the site sometimes give you a kickback for going through them, but also the places you order from may offer 2% or even 20% cash back. Last week Old Navy was having great deal and in addition to using coupon codes and free shipping on already marked down items, they were offering 20% cash back for shopping through shopathome.com. I am definitely going to continue shopping through these sites with the gift cards I get. Saves me time, money and hassle. I have now received every order I placed on line and because I had so many offers for free things or things that were a couple dollars, when they came it was like getting presents because I forgot I ordered them. HAHA One of my favorite things I got, which was basically free because of all the codes I used, was a photo book I made featuring some of my favorite photos from some of my travels. Today I got that and I was very excited, it's not very often that I even print my photos. I highly recommend you sign up for
Shop At Home and start saving today too!
Happy Shopping for yourself now that all the gift buying days are on hold. :)
