Welcome to THE MOUTH of the South Bay

Hello and welcome to South Bay Mouth.

Many of you may already know why this is site is called The Mouth, but for those that don't, locals commonly call the South Bay, "Mouth Bay."  The South Bay is a section of  South Los Angeles County encompassing a cluster of beach cities.

For a long time now I have wanted to create a place where locals and visitors alike can see what is going on and available to them in the South Bay.  Although I have lived most of my life in the area, I realize there is so much to do and see that I was never aware of.  I hear of great events and local fun and often when I share it with others they say they have lived here for so long and they never knew about it!  So, here we are... My hopes are that this site will provide something new to improve the quality of your life in the South Bay.  I do believe this site will be beneficial to both those living the single life and to families.  Please visit the South Bay Mouth often to stay on top of special events, new restaurants/shops, bargains and sales, reviews and opinions, bands and music, a video from an aspiring Chef or even just a photo of a beautiful sunset.

Stay tuned for updates and posts and please leave comments and share us with your friends.

PALOS VERDES THIS SUNDAY!!

SUNDAY JUNE 13, 2010 in PALOS VERDES

I just wanted to share two great things to take note of and make for a full day of family fun.

Palos Verdes Street Fair
Sunday June 13 10am-9pm
If you want to have food from different cultures, a new wardrobe, adopt a kitten, listen to live music, buy beautiful artwork or have solar panels installed in your house then this one stop shop is great for you.  They even have pony rides and those ones that make you sick to your stomach. :)  ENJOY!
A small article with more information here
(PS there are some folks there that rescue abandoned animals, we brought them some bags of kitten food.  Any donation is appreciated and they have dogs and cats!)

Fuchsia Show and Sale at the South Coast Botanic Garden (oh and for the men the FERRARI show will also be there)
Sunday June 13 10am-4pm
South Coast Botanic Garden"
26300 Crenshaw Boulevard
Palos Verdes Peninsula, California 90274

Phone: (310) 544-1948

Have you seen a Fuchsia? I discovered my love for these amazing little flowers while galavanting through Inismor Island in Ireland.  I found these flowers that looked like dancing ballerinas, still in the Irish darkness after the rain made it's stop on the sleepy town... it is then that I fell in love with a flower.  I think every girl should have some Fuchsia's to bring out their inner ballerina. :)

Here is the one and only photo I got on that trip of my dancing friend

Have a fabulous Sunday

FIESTA HERMOSA

FIESTA HERMOSA

Memorial Day weekend will be a huge event in the South Bay.  If you are a fan of the arts and the beach, time with family and friends, live music and beer gardens (especially that benefit great charities), then Fiesta Hermosa is the place to be!

How lucky are we that the "largest arts and crafts fair in Southern California" will be right here in our own backyard.  This event has been going on for over 30 years and will have nearly 300 artists and crafters and 18 different ethnic food choices all just a block from the sand.  There will also be activities and rides for kids so this is for sure an event for Family Fun.

The parking scene is horrendous but there will be shuttles and as always a bicycle would be a great option! Check out the Fiesta Hermosa website for more information and to answer all you questions.  See you at the beach!

Check out this VIDEO of Fiesta Hermosa so you can get a feel for it.

Where
Hermosa Beach Pier
Pier Ave and Hermosa Ave
Hermosa Beach, Ca 90254

When
Memorial Day weekend
May 29-21
10am-6pm

One of my favorite little additions about this years festival is the efforts to go green.  This is a direct statement from the website.

"Fiesta Hermosa goes “green” in 2010

Our buses and generators will be fueled with clean-burning biodiesel, made from used vegetable oil donated by local restaurants Patrick Molloy’s, Sangria, and CafĂ© Boogaloo. Glass and plastic containers will be recycled by Consolidated Disposal, and the food court vendors will be using compostible plates and cutlery"

KID'S SAFETY EVENT

KID'S SAFETY EVENT

Sadly this is all of the information I have gotten and I do not see anything online about the event, however anything having to do with keeping kids safe is an A+ to me, so it should be worth while to check out.

OLD NAVY

This Saturday is also the OLD NAVY $1 Flip Flop Sale!  This is a great opportunity to buy flip flops in every color and gear up for summer.  For $1 you will not be sad if you forget a pair behind.  I admit they are not the super best flip flops out there but I do have about 10 pairs and I wear them a lot.  They get the job of the flip flop done! I will be definitely getting my flip flops this weekend and I am sure I will have some updates for you in a few weeks if all goes as planned. :)  According to some sources the stores will open at 7am and will limit 5 pairs per person.
Contact your local Old Navy to see what time their store will be opening for this promotion (and go early because they sell FAST)
OH and do not forget as always to check oldnavyweekly.com to try and score some money saving coupons!

Some cute new styles!

We visited the care center recently, as it is open free to the public everyday, and sadly they are currently caring for nearly 200 marine mammals.  These animals are either sick or injured and they are nursing them back to a condition where they can be released, or those that may not make it back in the wild they try to place in homes with Sea World or at the zoo and other care facilities.  One of the biggest animals they have is 5 years old and completely blind now so they are working on his placement.  We took Corn Syrup donations that we bought at Ralph's for about $3 each.

I am back, sorry for disappearing!

Life caught up to me and in life we have to make choices as to what our priorities are.  Family, friends and the means to survive are forefront, I have had a crazy 6 weeks or so that led me to make the decision that somethings had to be put aside because I could not put forth the quality that I would have wanted.  Life has sorted and straightened out and I am ready to begin sharing the South Bay with you again.  Thank you for your patience!
